AP: Hargrove says he ‘misspoke’ about passion, wants to manage again

One more chance
If you really want to know
It’s Grover who’s behind the door

Mike Hargrove wants another shot at managing in the major leagues.

A little over a year ago, Hargrove shocked baseball by walking away from the Seattle Mariners, becoming the first manager since 1900 to resign as his team was on an eight-game winning streak.

A day before being inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame, Hargrove said he’d like to give it another go.

“I’d like to have one more chance, without a doubt,” the 58-year-old said Friday night at Progressive Field before the Indians played the Los Angeles Angels.

“It really would have to be the right place—and the team that did it would have to believe I wouldn’t walk away.”

I would like to see Hargrove back in the bigs just for the times when he's managing the home team in the 14th inning and his closer is still sitting in the pen awaiting the save opportunity.

Hargrove: Commissioner Gibson please!
Mel Gibson: You said that my movie wasn't accurate to the era.
Hargrove: I thought that the grammar of the Aramaic was wrong, I'm not an expert here!
Mel Gibson: You didn't have to just give up!
Hargrove: I lost the passion!

this is all code for being forced out of a job (perhaps by a player) & keeping quiet for long enough. wonder if it'll play with the larger market.

I'd let this motherf*ck*r back to manage if they make every goddam one of his batters remove their batting gloves, throw away their elbow pads, and stay in the box between pitches, while the other team's batters are allowed take up to five minutes a pitch to get ready.

And after that's done, he has to trade for Bartolo Colon and start him every four days for the next twenty years. You can never clinch things too early.
