AP: Milwaukee Brewers ace Ben Sheets to be skipped in rotation

Brewers ace Ben Sheets will skip his start on Wednesday because of soreness in his right triceps that caused him to leave his last start.

Sheets will be replaced in the rotation by Dave Bush, who got passed over Sunday when Yovani Gallardo returned from the 15-day disabled list.

“That’s the plan,” general manager Doug Melvin said Monday night before the Brewers started a two-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
...
With Sheets missing his next start, he won’t be scheduled to pitch again until next Tuesday in Chicago, the first of a nine-game road trip for Milwaukee after a day off on Monday.

That would give the 29-year-old ace in the final year of a $38.5 million, four-year contract 10 days to rest.

This news is definitely of the "dog bites man" variety rather than the "man bites dog" type.

I think that it's more "goat bites grass."

And so it begins.

Who compared it to Zambrano's forearm cramps? Z never missed a start because of those.

I never saw that comparison, but that's laughable. Almost as laughable as Dial's assessment of the Cub offense.

Doc Nabbit made the comparison.

Yost is saying Sheets could throw if he was needed, but they don't want to risk it in April.

Gallardo and Sheets have pitched together in the same rotation for a total of 6 weeks.

I said that. In the thread he was taken out, he was sitting in the dugout, the trainers weren't bugging him much. No one seemed to think it was a big deal. None of which describes what happened in his previous 687,844 injuries he's had.

For certain select players (Sheets, Snelling, N. Johnson, etc) we should start representing their injury count with logs to save time.

I think someone's already doing that.

How much does this hurt Sheets in free agency? I predict he gets at least 5 years and 16mm per year.

Sheets is missing a start?
In other breaking news, the sun rose this morning.
