Assuming he can stay healthy (which so far is looking like a big assumption), who do people think is a good comp for Friedrich, at least in terms of ceiling? He's been compared to Jeff Francis but Friedrich's stuff seems better. Is it too much to hope that Friedrich has a shot at being like Wainwright?
Chris Balcom-Miller is guy not on the list who got some notoriety on Rockies blogs. He was 20 and in the Pioneer league in 2009. The optimism is based on the combo of his 9.5 K/9 and 1.6 BB/9 and a 65% GB rate.
His reputation will exceed his talent for a long time because everyone who plays fantasy baseball wants him to have playing time and the SB that go with it.
I'm not surprised he missed the season, but I didn't hear if he had even started throwing off a mound by the end of the season.
A large segment of the internet fanbase for the Rockies seems irrational about him. Since he improved enough each year to put up an OPS around .800 at each stop, they think he'll do that in MLB, too. Or else they seem him stealing 60-70 bags a year and that's enough to be a good starter at 2nd.
I eagerly await years of the looming Eric Young Jr./Tony Gwynn Jr. "who's better" USENET wars.
Oh. Nevermind.
That's funny. If EY2:EY::TG2:TG, uh-oh for the Rockies.
He hadn't, and I haven't even seen *anything* about his rehab. Ringolsby said in the chat that he's expected to be ready for ST, but I have my doubts.
He might actually be able to do that in Coors Field. Of course, how valuable is an .800 OPS in Coors Field?
He went from Casper to Modesto and wasn't embarrassed.

Darin Holcomb should probably be in the top 10. He had tremendous in-season batting improvement, and was already a very good fielding 3Bman.
I'd also put Michael McKenry in the top 10. He can already outhit many MLB catchers, and although his CS% went down from 47% to 33% from A to AA, he does have a strong arm and good catching skills.
