OTOH, re-predicting after the first round is complete could be done in another thread.

I forget who I was gambling on to be MVP of the Braves-Astros series. But as soon as I remember his name, I'll post it here. Sometime around 7:20 to 7:45 EST Wednesday, at the latest.

Summary of Primates’ choices:

Division Series winners
Cardinals over Padres by a vote of 101-24
Astros over Braves by a vote of 64-61
Angels over Yankees by a vote of 86-39
Red Sox over White Sox by a vote of 67-58

Just in case the White Sox hold the lead in today's game, here are the seven Primates who picked the White Sox to win their division series in three: BWC, Dial, DLC, El Chupacabra (UCCF), Kiko Sakata, Strangers with Candy Maldonado (GSfRB), and sydhe.

Championship Series winners
NL: Cardinals 54, Braves 35, Astros 30, Padres 6
AL: Angels 37, White Sox 37, Red Sox 30, Yankees 21

World Series winners
Cardinals 42 (33.6%)
Braves 17 (13.6%)
Astros 15 (12.0%)
Angels 14 (11.2%)
White Sox 14 (11.2%)
Red Sox 12 (9.6%)
Yankees 10 (8.0%)
Padres 1 (0.8%)

Interestingly, 42 Primates picked the Cardinals to win the World Series, but only 12 think the Cardinals will lose the Series. Team most frequently picked to beat the Cardinals: the White Sox (6).

Here are the complete standings at the close of the Division Series. I awarded five points for choosing the winner, plus, if the poster got the winning team right, another three points for accurately predicting how many games the series would go. Under this system, you're rewarded with more points (16) for picking two winners plus number of games than for picking the winners in three series but guessing wrong on the number of games (15). Pretty arbitrary, I know, but I thought I should give some credit for getting the game count right.

Der Komminsk-sar picked the Cardinals in three, the Astros in four, the Angels in five, and the White Sox in five. He leads at the first turn.

I'm inclined to keep the same 5+3 scoring system for the Championship Series and World Series, although I could be persuaded to weight things differently. I'll post another update after the Championship Series end.

Sam M., I have one correction for your list of perfect Division Series predictors. Oil Can of Corn picked the Padres in five. Sixteen Primates chose all four DS winners correctly.

Yes, I mostly just want to try out the new signature.

Nix on the signature. I guess only Brattain and Sword of the Morning get those.

Here are the standings as the World Series begins. Congratulations to Crispix for picking the winners and the correct number of games for both championship series. (He can't beat Mug, though -- they have the same WS pick.)

I think the most interesting scenario would be if the Sox sweep. That would leave Mug, Dial and Robert S. in a three-way tie for the lead at 39, and would plunge the Prize Department into chaos.

Primates whose handles are shown in bold can still increase their overall score.

It seems only fair that those who picked the Yankees should get some credit for having four Yankees still pitching.

Even more if they remember the glory days of Russ Springer, Yankee pitcher.
