Biz of Baseball: Ken Rosenthal Joins MLB Network, Will Keep FOX Sports Duties

Jeez, by now…Gammo must be feeling like Peter Green or maybe even worse…Keith “Feelie” DeNunzio!

MLB Network today announced that Ken Rosenthal has joined its roster of on-air talent. Rosenthal will join the cast of MLB Tonight beginning Tuesday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. ET. Rosenthal, who will continue his reporting for FoxSports.com and MLB on Fox, joins Sports Illustrated senior writers Tom Verducci and Jon Heyman as Baseball Insiders on the MLB Network team.

“Ken brings a wealth of on-air reporting experience and insight into the game and we’re excited to welcome him to MLB Network,” said Tony Petitti, president and CEO of MLB Network. “As we grow as a network, it’s important that we contnue to bring fans the most up-to-date information from the best resources in the business.”

No love for Billy?

I'll not be seeing Keith or Billy tonight. I'm looking forward to it, I've been not wanting to see them since 1988.

At least they are going to have someone that generates a lot of work.

Heyman, and now Rosenthal as well?

The MLB network has been doing a fantastic job so far, but it would really suck if it ended up devolving into another propaganda outlet for agents. I don't need to be endlessly bombarded with misleading one-sided rumors that have no chance of becoming reality. Please keep the main focus on the game on the field, with the players who are there.

Robo has always struck me as more of a stooge for management than for agents.

This is what needs to be remembered. MLB Tonight is far far better than Baseball Tonight because they keep focused on the games. If MLB Tonight turns into a rumor fest, and a bunch of idiot talking heads, they'll be no better than BBTN.

Me too. I'll be there with my 13-year-old son.

MLB Network also hired Robert Reich to stand next to Rosenthal when he talks.

If you see a guy in a 1931 Red Sox cap, that'll be me. Otherwise, have a good time. Your son's got good taste to drag his old man along to such an event...

I'd love to see that horse race: Reich on one pony, Rosenthal on another, Kurkjian on the third.

Kurkjian will be riding the drab seal brown one, of course.

Hijacking this thread, seems somebody leaked the 2003 steroids list. Its just rumors right now though.

Give me a break.

My first reaction was shock and disappointment in the tainted records of Frank Catalanotto.

Second, though, the list strikes me as a bit too good. Sure, Terry Adams and Valerio de los Santo are on it, but the vast majority of players on it are recognizable everyday players. Hector Almonte was the only one I hadn't heard of. The list probably isn't legit, but if it is, I'm not really surprised by any of the names on it.

What reason is there to believe that that list is legitimate?

I'm with good cripple hitter in seeing it as "too good." It has virtually everyone who's already been outed as a user; I imagine that some of those guys could have slipped througha test undetected.

Here's the post of that list. It comes from a guy who "got it from someone who claims to know someone who knows the list."

They've got the wrong O. Perez listed among the Dodgers. I doubt its real.

Nevermind, the original list has Oliver with the Padres. Someone moved him for some reason.

Burnitz is listed twice, though, once for each team he was on during the year.
   17. Tripon Posted: June 29, 2009 at 09:27 PM (#3237076)
Oliver Perez was a Padre/Pirate at the time, and is now with the Mets.

It's all players who have gotten hurt a lot or who a lot of people dislike. That's pretty fishy.

That list seems a bit star heavy.

No Piazza! Plus Blowduca's on it! This list meets with my approval, let's run it!

EDIT: BOO to PEDRO

Unlike scrubs like Bonds, Clemens, A-rod, Sosa?
