Bobby Valentine’s Supporters Present Petition with 100,000 Signatures

Fans supporting Bobby Valentine have gathered 100,000 signatures on a petition seeking to keep the American as manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines beyond the 2009 Japanese baseball season.

Valentine, in his seventh season as manager, had been told his contract will not be renewed at the end of the season.

I don’t see this happening for, say, Jerry Manuel.

The population of Chiba prefecture is 6,006,185. So they have about 1.7% of the population signing that petition.

I highly doubt you could get 1.7% of people in NY to get behind either manager.

If you're gonna get fired from your job, I've gotta think that what's happening with Valentine is the best possible way to go. 100,000 signatures? REAL signatures, and not just some online jazz? That would have to make anyone feel loved.

Bobby has next to zero need for others' love, and I do not mean that he doesn't care.

I was just wondering if anyone actually examined them, because I bet I could make 100,000 little pictures.
