Maaaaaybe.
If you are like me, and view baseball as a game played primarily on paper, then yes. That's why I think Mark Shapiro and the other members of the Indians front office are geniuses. Their teams may not actually win or even play well, but they SEEM like they should win, and that's enough for me. All the rest is just (bad) luck.
In his one season at the helm in Seattle, his club had a P-record of 75-87. The three years prior the Mariners had P-records of 67-95 ('08), 79-83 ('07) and 78-84 ('06). In other words, of Seattle's last four years, the team Zduriencik put on the field was more-less the same as the ballclubs Billy Bavasi brandished.
That said, Zduriencik made a couple of nice off-season moves and Seattle should finish above .500 (IMO) in 2010. I like them to wind-up in third, behind Texas (2nd) and the No-Hope A's (1st).
