Bordow: Dunn frees up D-Backs to be themselves

And how great is it to hear Daron Sutton just winging the praises of Adam Dunn and his OBP every game...(as the “get ‘em on, get ‘em over, get me a beer” Cincy crew gets what they wanted).

Everyone wants to talk about the statistical impact Dunn has had on the Diamondbacks’ offense. Arizona is averaging 6.7 runs per game since his arrival, and it’s become much more selective at the plate, drawing 6.2 walks per contest.

Are the rest of the D-Backs taking a cue from Dunn, whose on-base percentage is a ridiculous .513? Who knows.

But it can’t be a complete coincidence that a free-swinging team suddenly has discovered the joy of ball four.

“All I know is that I’m getting a heck of a lot more at-bats with runners on base,” third baseman Mark Reynolds said.

Bordow: King of small sample sizes.

Snakes fans: Get ready for a fun couple of weeks from Mr. Dunn.

The buzz is that the Dbacks are serious about keeping Dunn beyond this season.

Also, another interesting development: MReynolds taking grounders at 2B

Tim Brown: Dunn is Diamondbacks' Donkey Kong

Peavy sure felt his donkey punch last night :)

I am glad for Adam.

My relatives in Cincy told me via e-mail that when the topic of Adam's success came up in the Reds radio booth Marty sneered, "Let me know what the Diamondbacks think after Dunn strikes out 15 times in 30 at bats" followed by a Brantley laughing jag.

So far, Dunn has struck out 7 times in 26 at bats. So Marty's prediction won't come true
He's also walked 11 times for .514 OBP and sports 1.129 OPS in 8 games

Maybe Baker and Mercker should form another committee to run a broadcaster or two out of town.

Dunn in left and Reynolds at 2B makes Diamondback pitchers cry.

Actually, it'll be Reynolds at 2B and Dunn at 1B
Incidentally, I think Reynolds won't be half bad at 2b
My bigger concern is Tracy at 3B but MR wasn't great there
Tracy has to only fight the soft bigotry of pretty low expectation there

I will always be a Reds fan, however, I am really looking forward to Marty and Brantley having to call a few Adam Dunn bombs when the Reds visit the D-Backs at the end of this month.
