Canseco denied entry to Mitchell news conference

Stalling procedure?

Before George Mitchell released his report and held his news conference Thursday, a most surprising visitor attempted to enter: Jose Canseco.

Canseco, a virtual certainty to be named in the report, tried to get into the news conference room but was turned down by Major League Baseball officials.

“It’s OK,” Canseco said, smiling. “I’m not in the media.”

A few key takeaways:

1) Canseco must be working on a new book.
2) Canseco is still being blacklisted by baseball.
3) Canseco is somehow jealous that his name isn't in the report.
4) More than a couple of people considered it possible that Canseco would injure George Mitchell.
5) Canseco could probably hit 70-80 home runs a year right now.
6) He's still my favorite living, retired player.
7) There is about a 95% chance that he is still juicing.

Canseco. I got to hand it to him. He can find his way everywhere.

If only the BBWAA would see the error of their ways, and allow this noted baseball writer and author into their little boys club.

I got Herb Stempel flashbacks reading this.

Boy, that's gratitude for ya. Without Canseco's book, Mitchell and his firm probably never would have had this multi-million dollar billing project.

How soon they forget.

I hope DLA Piper at least sends him a Christmas Card.

Canseco, with his newfound credibility and oracle status, give me some odds Canseco gets rubbed out by the next star he is about to name in book #2?

I doubt he goes to enough games.
But yeah, giving Jose Canseco a vote would be fitting.

I saw him on Larry King last night and boy, is Jose starting to get weird looking.

His eyes were all bloodshot. He looked like he was training for the WWF or something.

What was funny was he said, though he hadn't read the report, he noted a factual error in it that said he had received steroids from Roger Clemens. About 5 minutes later, Miotchell himself called the show to correct Canseco and stated in no uncertain terms that nowhere in the report did it state that clemens had given him steroids.

Canseco, to his credit, apologized but he looked pretty foolish in doing so.
