Chalk: Kicking Joe DiMaggio’s Ass: Joltin’ Jason Bartlett’s Streak Hits 19

And have Joey Adonis after ya? No tanks.

Historic Tropicana Field saw history made Thursday night in the 5th inning as Devil Ray superstar Joltin’ Jason Bartlett launched a line drive single into right.  With that epic single, Bartlett became an immortal — he has hit safely in his 19th consecutive game and broken Quinton McCracken’s Devil Ray record hitting streak that had stood for over a decade.

Now that the Devil Ray record is Bartlett’s, Joltin’ Jason naturally will continue his streak until he takes down Joe DiMaggio’s Major League record of 56 consecutive games.

...Maybe this will convince the doubters: Joe DiMaggio’s storied streak began on May 15 1941.  Joltin’ Jason Bartlett’s streak began on May 15 2009 — 68 years to the day.  Clearly, it’s destiny.

Pinky Higgins was sweating in his grave, and Walt Dropo was reaching for his heart pills, but then Johnny Damon made an out last night after getting four straight hits.

Are singles "launched"? I think they're "stroked" or "stung" or even "lashed."

Dude, Barlett is teh awesomest and totally going to break Dimaggio's record. He's hitting .371 which is better than what Dimaggio hit that year so he's having a better year.

Now we know why the team changed it's name. It was part of the deal with Zobrist and Bartlett.

I will never forget where I was the day that Bartlett broke Quinton McCracken's Devil Ray hitting streak record.
