Francona has invited Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland and New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi to serve as AL coaches…
Hurdle has asked New York Mets manager Willie Randolph and San Diego Padres manager Bud Black to join him as NL coaches.
I assume there was a push to have the two New York coaches on the bench, but even getting past that, Black and Leyland are overseeing two of the biggest busts in all of baseball. And don’t even get Mets fans started on Randolph…
Wedge and BoMel got screwed.

Tonight, for example, the tigers are up one run, there are two runners on and no one out. So he brings in Zach "8.40 ERA" Miner instead of one of his good relievers. Guess what happens?
Well gee, I guess you can't bring in a good reliever in the SEVENTH! You MUST bring in the pitcher who pitches the SEVENTH! No matter what.
Leyland has been terrible this year. He's the Rob Fick of all-star manager selections.
Why would he pitch Miner?
On that note, the Braves trades with the Tigers have gone down pretty well.
Half season of good Farns + picks for Miner/Colon
Jurrjens/Gorkys for Renty
Ledezma for McBride would have been good if we held onto Ledezma
It's too bad the Braves didn't get anything useful for Doyle Alexander.
And this is a big honkin' deal because...?
