Craig Calcaterra: Francoeur for the All-Star Game

Right field: Jeff Francoeur, Atlanta: Apologies to Justin Upton, but when baseball no longer has a place for the likes of Francoeur, a player so extravagantly talented that he can hold down a major league job despite seemingly having little more idea of what to do with that talent than a tomcat, baseball will no longer be worth watching.

May as well agitate for a contract extension while you’re at it, Tim. Sheesh.

I wish we had thought of this in May. It would have been great to get the baseball blogosphere to RickRoll MLB and vote Jeff Francoeur in as a starter in St. Louis. Hah!

What would that accomplish?

In fairness to Craig, the tongue-in-cheek vote for Francoeur was actually from Tim Marchman... Craig's just quoting him in his own piece...

that's not quite right--his real talent was convincing a whole bunch of people that he HAD talent

Francoeur has talent. Its just little of it has value as a baseball player.

you're right--his blog is extremely well-written

I was confused. First, this:

May as well agitate for a contract extension while you’re at it, Tim. Sheesh.

Was said by Craig, not Tripon. Second, I have no idea what it means.

I was going to post Tim's article this morning...guess I should have.

While I am at it, I couldn't access his AL picks.

As said, I was just linking Tim's All-Star piece. This little bit:

May as well agitate for a contract extension while you’re at it, Tim. Sheesh.

Built (clumsily) off of the lead in where I said that Tim must be trying to give me a heart attack by advocating for Francoeur, with the implication being, if he's going to do that, he may as well advocate for Fancoeur to get a contract extension too.

Weak crap on my part, really. Tim's piece is the one to read.

Confusion! I was aiming for that.

CC: if it's any consolation, I understood what you meant by that throwaway line

(I mean, it wasn't particularly FUNNY or anything..)

I thought that you meant Francouer, but it wasn't clear to me. You could have been talking about Marchman hitting up the Luces or whoever runs the Time empire these days for a longer contract.

So, Tripon, do you do a Google search for Francoeur every minute or just every hour?

If we couldn't get any Expos voted in during the last year of their existence, I doubt whether any on-line "petition" would succeed.
