D-Backs talking to Tony Clark (East Valley Tribune)

The D-Backs re-acquired him at the All-Star break last year, and manager Bob Melvin values Clark as both a productive pinch-hitter/platoon player at first base and as a positive clubhouse presence.

“He’s a guy that we realized the importance of him a couple of years ago,” said Melvin, after Clark hit .249 with 17 home runs in 221 at-bats when the D-Backs won the NL West in 2007.

C'mon, lev, you know what simply signing Clark wouldn't be the problem. It's the brain-dead decision to give him serious playing time.
After Arizona (re-)acquired Clark, he started at first base 12 times. That was about a dozen times more than either of us thought was wise.

You people need to get your slide rules fixed. The D-backs were a losing team when they acquired Clark in 2008. They ended 2008 as a winning team.
