Denver Post: Paige: Too early to give up on Rockies

Direct from the Snooky Bellomo hair salon/art dicko store...the latest from Woody Paige.

Maybe there is hope. Jeff Francis will come around, and Jimenez may tonight against the Cardinals, and Josh Towers should get his chance to join the club and the rotation any day now, and Jason Hirsh was sitting prominently in the dugout Sunday. That’s a sign.

Podsednik, Iannetta and Ryan Spilborghs belong in the lineup more regularly, and the 3H — Holliday, Todd Helton and Brad Hawpe — will hit higher and farther.

The Rockies finally put together a winning streak in May last season and pulled to within two games of .500 on the 29th (against the Cardinals).

It has to start somewhere. The Rockies beat the Dodgers 7-2 on Sunday.

It's never a good sign if Scott Podsednik belongs in your lineup more regularly.

The solution is simple: Proven Winner Eric Byrnes (TM) for Matt Holliday

didnt Byrnes get his hedonistic ass shipped out of Jesus-ville once before?

3: Yes, but he's ready to be a born-again Rockie.

Its gonna be tough for the Rockies to do anything this year with Tulo out and already multiple games behind the Dodgers and D-backs, who are also better teams. It would seem to help alot if the made Iannetta the starter though. Im not sure who thinks Torrealba is better than Iannetta at this point given their current seasons and track records.

Yesterday Steve Phillips, on the radio, said "one thing we know about the Rockies, it's that they can win 21 of 22, they've proven they can get on a hot streak at the right time." And yes, he was serious.

As a lifelong Jays fan, I have to say: if you're depending on Josh Towers for anything other than a big bag of suck, you're going to be disappointed.

Aaron Cook is now 5-1 with a 2.40 ERA (that's a 188 ERA+).

The rest of the staff is 7-18 with a 5.32 ERA.

I predict at least one of those ERAs will change substantially.
