Det News: Green: Leyland says he’ll stick it out this time

Jerry Green remembers Bill Norman...while Ziggy played Guitar Hero?

So the notion was that Leyland, true to his staunch character when hit by disappointment, negatives beyond his control, might just do what he did in Pittsburgh, Florida and Colorado.

Well, Jim Leyland does not intend to deliver another self-ziggy this season.

“I’m not leaving here if that’s what you’re getting at,” he told me the other day in the manager’s office in the clubhouse at Comerica Park.

“They’ll have to fire me. I’m very happy here. Let’s see how that plays out. I like managing and I’ve got a lot of energy. So I’m strong, I feel good, I’ve got a lot of energy and I want to manage.”

"Self-ziggy"? I hear you can go blind from that.

I'd rather deliver a self-ziggy than receive the dreaded Rear Admiral.

Didn't Leyland just flat-out quit on the Rockies in every sense of the word? How does quitting when your team hasn't performed well give him "staunch character"?

Leyland's going with Option J?
