Diamond Notes: Bill Plaschke: Around the Horn 06/23/09

Bill Plaschke says on “Around the Horn” that in protest of Manny Ramirez’s rehab, he decided not to go to Albuquerque to cover it.

“There’s a reason I’m sitting here in a studio in LA and not in Albuquerque with him. It’s a complete joke. There’s no way I’m going down there…I don’t want to be any part of it.

“If I’m going to go down there, I’m going to lend it my presence and say ‘I approve of this.’ No, I don’t. I can write it just as well from here and write how horrible it is.”

Jay Mariotti: “It’s not about lending your presence! It’s about covering the news!”

Bob Ryan: “There’s no way you should be dignifying this outrageous thing with your presence.

“C’mon, Jay! You gotta stand for something once in a while! This is an undignified activity. No. Don’t go.”

Mariotti is on one side, Plaschke is in the other. There is no right answer.

I know one thing for sure.

The link is to the blog of former Dodgers beat reporter Diamond Leung.
On the page, though, is embedded ESPN video. Don't click on that.

Get the #### over yourself, Plaschke, you ############# hack.

I'd say that Plaschke should have his kids taken away, but then we'd still have to listen to him. So here's to him losing his hands and tongue.

Another data point in the "steroids turn fans away from the game" storyline... MLB TV reported that an Albuquerque record 15,000+ turned out for the game tonight to welcome Manny back to the field.

Yes, but 0.0% of those people were Bill Plaschke, so who cares?

When's the last time has Bill Plaschke paid for a baseball ticket?

If I could, I'd use this as an excuse to fire Plaschke, but then, if I could do that, I'd have found an excuse a long time ago.
