Diamondbacks put Byrnes, Snyder on 15-day DL

On a painful day in the desert, the Arizona Diamondbacks put left fielder Eric Byrnes and catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Byrnes is out with a strained left hamstring, Snyder with a left testicular fracture.

So yeah, I’ll never complain about anything ever again.

I really thought "bust a nut" was just a figure of speech.

I'm going to go lie down for a while.

Snyder is a nice underrated player.

The Brewers announcer just said something like, for Snyder, things are as bad as they could possibly be. Perhaps a bit of an overstatement, but not by much.

Levski, if you read this thread, and want to nix our "bet", I am OK with that.

This could never happen to Mike Lowell.

Thankfully, Montero sucks and Hammock can't even hit enough to be the bullpen catcher.

Snyder with a left testicular fracture.

Do they put it in a cast?

Ow. That hurts just to read about.

Between this an Jose Molina taking a fastball to the babymaker, it was a tough day to be a catcher yesterday.

Juan Cruz (Oblique) and Edgar Gonzalez (Elbow) also had MRI's today. As the article mentions, Owings is likely to miss tomorrows start as well. Yusmeiro "Homerun" Petit probably to get the start.

I've learned more about testicular injury tonight than anyone should.

Testicular rupture or fractured testis refers to a rip or tear in the tunica albuginea resulting in extrusion of the testicular contents (see Image 2).

Godspeed, Sir Snyder.

At this point of time, it would really suck to lose that bet...

Anyhow, I'll gladly donate $20 to sponsor b-ref pages of your choice. It's for a good cause. Plus it might turn RJ's season around

Poor Snyder. As Russlan said, an underrated player. Very good defensively, and a super nice guy as well.
I feel really awful for him, and his nut. Hopefully he can come back pretty soon, the Dbacks need him.

Russ, that is the most horrifying link ever. Thank you for nothing whatsoever.

Per the postgame: Snyder will have surgery tomorrow and the team thinks that he should be back soon after the ASB.

This timetable seemed ridiculous, but my then my dad said that the same thing happened to him when he was in high school (riding a motorcycle) and that he was back to work in a little over a week. Of course, now I'm beginning to fear that I may actually be adopted and that my parents have been lying to me my entire life.

On the plus side, he won't have to worry about any future children being taken away.

Levski, I don't want you to think I don't wanna pay. It's just the way they are pitching, it looks like it's a competition of who will suck less.

A testicular fracture sounds a lot worse than it is. It's really just defining what kind of injury it is and how it needs to be treated. Since Snyder presumably got proper care and is having surgery tomorrow, I would assume he would be OK. There's a lot of blood flow in that part of the body.

I think that's true no matter how bad it actually is.

Crissakes people, the Giants could actually win this division. How much crow would we collectively have to eat?
   25. shoewizard Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:54 AM (#2840241)
the fact that the Giants are 10 games under .500 and only 5 games back is just not right.

Good news is, it does heal in a week or so.

Yeah. They just need a high-OBP veteran bat for the middle of the order.

RJ actually has pretty solid peripherals, while Pedro's have been awful. It's not clear that RJ is due to, or likely to, suck. Pedro might not either, but he's definitely sucked so far.
