Dodgers assistant GM Ng interviewed

Kim Ng was interviewed by Lee Hamilton on XM radio yesterday, and here are some quotes from the Dodgers assistant general manager…

Manny was a great player for us last year, and we hope to re-sign him. Right now, we’re in discussions with his agent, Scott Boras, and hopefully we can come to some resolution soon. So we’ll just have to wait and see.

The most important thing is to just keep talking. I don’t think we’ve drawn our line in the sand at all (at two years or two years plus an option year). I do think it’s going to take a lot of discussion. I do think Scott is out there looking at his other options, and Manny is looking at his other options. I think a lot of other clubs are a little slow progressing as well, which is probably adding to our situation because obviously Manny’s going to find the place for him. So it’s all intertwined.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us do some things in the next couple weeks. Maybe a little flurry here and there. Hopefully we can get some things done. We’re definitely working the phones. We’ve got a lot of people that we’re talking to, both relievers and starters, and obviously Manny. We’re just going to have to wait and see.

I would ask the fans to be patient. We still got a month to go. We’re not at Feb. 14 yet. Even when we do get to Feb. 14, that’s not the same as opening day. There’s still a lot of time to go, so just be patient.

Its kinda hilarious that Kim Ng can give a much better interview than Ned Coletti, and not resort to PR speak like Coletti does.

Really? This whole thing says nothing substantive.

If XM doesn't hire her, they are racist.

Ned's just lucky she lets him walk in the glow of her majestic presence. What'll be awesome is when Ng can finally look Boras square in the eye and say "I don't want the world, I just want your half."

And yet they keep repeating it like a broken record. Everything sticks like a broken record.

Why does the head of the 9/11 commission have his own XM "talking baseball" radio show?

:)

To be honest, I would be a little surprised if the first woman to make it into the MLB front office on the player development side wasn't twice as smart as everyone else in the room.

At the last winter meetings, I met a woman who does analytics for a front office and she has a mechanical engineering degree from MIT. To break into the old boys network, you are going to have to be pretty smart.
