Dodgers’ Juan Pierre to get MRI exam on hurt knee (RR)

...will have trouble walking.

Juan Pierre didn’t travel with the Dodgers to Houston on Sunday, remaining in Los Angeles to undergo an MRI exam today to determine the extent of damage to the left knee that he hurt in the sixth inning of a 1-0 loss to the Angels.

A decision of whether to put Pierre on the ever-growing disabled list will remain on hold until team physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache diagnoses the injury, but Manager Joe Torre said, “Obviously, for him to come out of a ballgame, it’s more than just a bruise, you would think.”

Pierre, who has never been on the disabled list in nine major-league seasons, declined to comment through a team spokesperson.

Hope it's not too serious. This injury could really sap his power.

A ha! I knew there had to be an injury. There's no other explanation for a guy making that kind of money to be putting up such numbers.

having slappy out of the lineup would be a good thing, except that one wonders exactly what the dodgers have in the cupboard to make up for his absence.

I read that as "Dodgers' Juan Pierre Hurts Knee Getting MRI Exam," which would of course be ludicrous for anyone other than J.D. Drew or perhaps Chipper Jones.

Juan Pierre with an injured knee is less qualified to play baseball than I am.

I think the proper joke here is:

J. Pierre: Hey doc, after my knee gets better, will I be able to walk?
Doctor: Why of course.
J. Pierre: That's great! Do you think it will be even more than my previous 5.5% rate?

The Dodgers offense is about to get a boost.

No Joke.

I know this is a joke, but to clarify for others, he was injured during yesterday's game.

If this is serious, I assume the Dodgers become the NL West favorites.

Jason Repko activated from DL.
Delwyn Young will get some playing time now - this season, 821 OPS in limited action.

Before you get too excited, Andruw Jones and his .544 OPS are expected back in a few weeks.

Dodgers score one run tonight on a sac fly. Eleven hits, only two for x-bases. Kemp's out for a couple of games with an infected eye.

Repko, playing in place of Pierre -- 0-for-5, 5 Ks.

The key guy is a healthy Furcal.

Why again should we pay attention to West Coast baseball?
