Emil Brown fed up with criticism

“I hear it all of the time,” Brown said. “He’s an adventure out there. Why? Because I’m actually trying to make plays happen?

“It isn’t an adventure for (Twins outfielder) Torii Hunter when he dives for a ball and misses it. Then, it’s, ‘Oh, he just missed it.’ He gets the benefit of the doubt because he’s a Gold Glover. But it’s an adventure when I do it.”

...“I think I should be out there every day — wind, sleet or snow,” he said. “I’m a playmaker. If I haven’t shown that yet, I will. Leading the team in RBIs, but even going further than that, there are other things I do besides driving in runs. Just leave me alone and let me play.

“At the end of the year, my numbers will be where you want them to be, and I still think my best will be in front of me. I started baseball so late in my life, and I’m still constantly trying to get better.”

Wind, sleet or snow?...He’s making as much sense as Ray Heatherton did in the 90’s.

Emil, Torii actually catches the ball now and then.

I really hope Dayton is doing all he can to trade Emil. He was a nice success story, but he's utterly replaceable and its time for him to go.

The only really clear mental image I have of Emil Brown doing anything is of him kicking a ball to the center fielder during this game.

That's why I think he's an adventure out there. That and being forced to play a 4e15 in the outfield for a year in my strat league.

Albert Pujols gets the benefit of the doubt when he swings and misses.

East coast bias

I thought Dial's system had Brown as an above average defender.

He's not playing RF with Teahen moving for Gordon. Is he going to be the left fielder? Or is it Sanders or Gload?

They could also use DeJesus in LF and Gathright in CF if they want the best defense out there. What do Royals fans think the lineup is going to be?

They should keep him. He's a solid hitter and I have him in my keeper league.

Emil will play LF again. Reggie and Joey will be on the bench barring a trade. Gload and Costa can also play OF, although I assume Costa will be sent to Omaha if they can't work out a trade.

Reggie may actually be released.

Reggie may actually be released.

Releasing Reggie Sanders in an odd-numbered year would be a serious tempt of fate.

KC's backup OFers include Sanders, Gathright, Gload, and Costa. Wow, we may have found an area where the Royals actually have more quality than most teams.

KC's backup OFers include Sanders, Gathright, Gload, and Costa.

And Lubanski and Meier if Triple-A prospects can be called backups.
