ESPN: Shoppach’s HR, 3 RBIs push streaking Indians past Tigers

Kelly Shoppach homered and drove in three runs and Shin-Soo Choo also went deep to lift the Cleveland Indians to their 10th straight win, 9-7 over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night. Cleveland’s team record is 13 consecutive wins, accomplished twice, the last time in 1951.
...
The Indians have won 10 straight, their longest winning streak since 2002. Their longest streak of the last 50 years was 11 straight in 1982.

Who would have thought that Shoppach would be the best player in the Crisp-Marte deal?

Too late, Tribe.

Seriously. Wouldn't mind having him in the lineup instead of El Capitan.

Of course, but it's certainly nice to see some life after that awful stretch in late June/early July.

I think the emergence of Shoppach probably means a lot more Martinez at first.

Typical of Wedge's teams no pressure=great performance....

I wonder if the Tribe would consider trading Martinez. It's a really weak free-agent class for catchers. They'd be selling low but the demand might be enough to make it interesting.

With Garko turning it around, I'd be willing to bet that one of our catchers will be a trade chip in our search for a closer or third baseman. Especially now that we have Carlos Santana giving us some depth organizationally. Personally I'd prefer to see Victor go, with Kelly's youth, better defense, and more power. Just please god Shapiro, don't resign Casey Blake.

I'm fine with trading one of our catchers for an upgrade at third, but I'm not sold on the Garko turnaround quite yet.

I also hope Lewis sticks as closer for next year.
