Phil Hughes is definitely the "Pride of a Nation". What kind of card is that? Did he pitch for Team USA at some point?

That is a 2007 Upper Deck Black card. You can probably pick it up on eBay for $50-70.

From that blog/site:
Well guys, I thought that by writing a follow up Joba Part II post I would be able to clarify some of my primary opinions about him, but it seems to have only stirred the pot over at the Baseball Think Factory. I’m not a Sabermetrics stud and I don’t even understand all the things stat people spend their time talking about, so I’m not too worried that a few of them had a few qualms with my work.
Um, then why was the post filled with pseudo-sabermetrics and math that didn't really apply to the subject? Is it that hard to inflate the market for a baseball card you own?
Because Lord knows we haven't had enough discussion of Phil Hughes yet. You know what else I think would be cool? Some more discussion of Jim Rice's Hall of Fame case!

I'd much rather talk about Clemens. Isn't it about time for a new Clemens thread?

Maybe I'm in the same boat as the author of this article - not 100% literate in sabermetrics - but I thought the numbers he used were, for the most part, helpful and appropriate. I'd quibble over his conclusions and some of his comparisons, but for what he was trying to accomplish,I thought he did fine.
