Take your average Marlins home crowd. Then adjust it downwards for being in September, about two weeks after they have finally fallen out of contention. Then adjust it downwards again for being on a Wednesday afternoon, two days after Labor Day, so you know nobody took the day off because they already had Monday off. Then adjust it downwards again for featuring the obscure (though talented) starting pitching matchup of Chris Volstad vs. Jorge Campillo, and being against the 4th-place, rookie-laden Braves.
What do you get?
Hanley Ramirez homered and doubled to lead the Florida Marlins past the Atlanta Braves 5-3 Wednesday in front of an incredibly sparse crowd of just 600 fans.
Fewer than 600 people were in Dolphin Stadium’s bright orange and aqua seats for the first pitch, leaving most of them to reflect the afternoon sun. While the official attendance, based on tickets sold, was 11,211, the ballpark was so quiet that home-plate chatter could be heard.

Newspaper guys said it was closer to 2,500.
And when Ramirez trots around the bases for his home run, the ground-level camera shows the front row of every section as he circles, and there is NO ONE in the seats.
They didn't even have enough people to sneak up and fill front rows.
How often do you see a bat go into a crowd and there is almost no one around to be hit by it?
"No, I like my seat right here."
"For the comfort of your fellow fans, please do not put your feet up on the chair in front of you. Thank you for your co-operation."
I remember going to a White Sox game vs. Seattle when Griffey was still with the team. We bought upper deck seats for $10, moved down to the front row behind the Sox dugout and could hear the first base coach from our seats behind the 3rd base dugout.
Try any April or early May midweek game at Five County Stadium while school is still in session. If it's warm enough, Mudcat radio broadcaster Patrick Kinas will open his window, and you can hear him in the first row of the upper deck.

Me, too. I love sparsely attended games. It's one of the joys of A's fandom. As a kid, I loved midweek night games at the 'Stick when I could get to them.
