Fassero move indicts the entire Cardinals operati

I think indictments are too harsh. This is merely a one night stand, and Cardinal management swears it is consensual. Fassero isn’t crying ‘misconduct’ either. This isn’t to say that this move is the right thing to do but let’s not throw the word “indict” around lightly.

Maybe I've been watching too much Law and Order, but can't you indict a ham sandwich? I know that's what Adam Schiff says all the time...

Maybe the writer is a reporter for all editions of the paper, but is only allowed his own column in the online edition? I suppose that could even be their audition process for getting a column in the print edition. Just a WAG. I agree it's odd.

This writer (Jeff Gordon) has a daily feature in my Sports section where we print humorous excerpts from other sports pages, quotes, etc. Once in a while, I will run one of his columns, but alas, he's not that talented. My main columnist, Bernie Miklasz, however is quite good. Even you sabermetric freaks would like him

yep..he throws out a quite a lot of lies about tlr in his neverending quest to be the biggest man in st louis(bernie actually said that jim edmonds is afraid to talk to him) st louis for a baseball town, has no good baseball writers anymore(rick hummel was the last good one, and i don't think he writes that often, if at all anymore)the rest of the cities writers are either spokesmouths for the team, or basically people that are lost in the past and believe that whitey herzog was god, and that everything about todays game is wrong(except mcgwire and bo hart)

I don't think joe was ran out of town..he is still quite beloved in st. louis..still gets ovations everytime he gets a chance to play here.

but, just like bo hart, most people know that he is a utility player.(can't remember who we got for mcewing though) bo hart is a career utility player to be, just like joe mcewing..nothing against that, but everyone knows that is bo's destiny. and considering the wretched performances we got out of vina this year, even mcewing would have been an upgrade.

andy benes was unmerciful criticized in st louis...but chuck finley was pretty much worshipped from day one when he arrived(I couldn't figure out why for the life of me would anyone have wanted him..oh well i was wrong again..wasn't the first or only time)

Fassero pitched 4 innings, giving up 1 run, and striking out 7.

Stephenson came in and gave up 2 runs in 2 innings.

Rob Neyer, over at ESPN: It's so bad that Jeff Fassero -- who's got a 6.70 ERA and doesn't really belong in the major leagues -- started last night against the Padres because Tony La Russa was tired of watching Garrett Stephenson pitch (though both wound up pitching, and both did well).

Well for a guy who doesn't belong in the Major Leagues, Fassero pitched pretty well: 1 run on 5 hits in 4 innings, with 7(!) strikeouts.

Interesting that Neyer claims that Stephenson "did well": 5 baserunners and 2 earned runs in 2 innings.
