The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed opening day starter Hiroki Kuroda on the 15-day disabled list with a mild strain in a muscle near his left ribs.
...
Manager Joe Torre said the Japanese right-hander felt fine after his start but experienced tightness in his left side late in his side session in the bullpen on Wednesday.
He returned to Los Angeles where an MRI exam showed no structural damage. But Karoda felt the tightness again when he threw off the mound Friday and the decision was made to place him on the disabled list.
Left-hander Eric Stults was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque to start against Arizona on Saturday.

Shower time.
The Dodgers have serious pitching problems. Billingsley's the only reliable guy while Kuroda's out.
Whether he can do it consistently, we'll see - but he's got the skills to succeed.
Kuroda will be back soon, but the Dodgers still need another solid innings eater in that rotation.

Dude can hit too
Somebody has to be.
I like him, and have followed him for a long time, but I wouldn't bet on him becoming a major league regular. He's 29, and finally hit 100 major league innings pitched tonight. Still, I'm hoping that he can pitch well enough going forward that he can get a real shot at the fifth spot for some team - the Dodgers or some other team. Because with a few breaks he could be a useful player for a few years at least.
And his line drive, snagged by Drew, was the Dodgers' hardest hit ball until O-Dog's bomb.
