Thanks, GB. This is going to be fun. I'm hoping the Chinese do well, primarily because I love underdogs.

You forgot the most important Canadian, Stubby Clapp.

I'll never forgive myself.

The Dominican has some serious star power but I have to think that the US would be the prohibitive favorite: their pitching is by far the best in the tournament and the lineup, while lacking the mashers of Ortiz/A-Rod caliber, should be excellent top to bottom.

I hope we get the US/DR game we missed out on last time thanks to the US's suckitude.

PR and Venezuela look strong, and Canada and Mexico could definitely be dangerous. Defending champ Japan will have their galaxy of stars out in force. This should be great!

Also, if you want to be a ringer for Italy you should have to go by an Italicized first name. Niccolo Punto, Francesco Catalanotto, Leonardo DiNardo (!), Marco DeFelice, Giasone Grilli, etc.

My analysis of the US Team: Not as good a team as last time as far as raw talent and statistic-making awesomeness, but probably a better team as far as how the players go together.

So, where does the DR find room for Hanley, Jose Reyes, Miguel Tejada, ARod, Beltre and David Ortiz??? The outfield looks like a good place to start, but are any of these guys (not Ortiz obviously) willing to move to CF? Hanley/Jose have to be a better overall option in CF than Willy Taveras...

EDIT: And further more, who defects from Cuba after this is all over?

This could be Pedro's last hurrah.

Frank Pembleton was great!

c: Olivo
1b: Hanley
2b: Jojo Reyes
3b: Beltre
ss: Tejada
lf: Alou
cf: Taveras
rf: A-Rod
dh: Ortiz (duh)

Obviously, it will be less about the ideal lineup and more about who's willing to play where, but that's how I'd do it.

Look! It's Orber Moreno! It seems the Ivanon Coffie Era is over.

Oh good, Ian Snell does qualify as a Puerto Rican! Local media reported that it's his step-father who is Puerto Rican.

Ivanon Coffie! Damn, I remember him from his Minor League days.
