Ducks from camera...HA!
Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter, who last spring publicly angled for the Mets managing job when it began to appear that Willie Randolph might be fired, Friday was named skipper of the minor league Long Island Ducks.
Ducks principal owner Frank Boulton announced that Carter, 54, will be introduced at a Monday press conference at the team’s Central Islip ballpark, making Carter the fourth manager in the Ducks’ nine-year history. He will replace former major league pitcher Dave LaPoint, who has managed the team the past two years.
...In a statement, Carter said, “I’m very excited to be back in New York, and to have the opportunity to manage a first-class organization like this one. I’m ready to go.”
