The Blue Jays continued their simmering September blowing into the Windy City and blowing out the Chicago White Sox 8-2 last night to complete a sweep of a split doubleheader.
The Blue Jays began the day with a 3-1 decision over the stumbling White Sox, 80-64, and combined with last night’s convincing decision the Jays, 78-66, have won 10 in a row to maintain their slender hopes for an American League playoff spot.
It ranks as the third longest win string in franchise history behind a couple of 11-game runs, the last of which occurred late in the 1998 season.
...
With the Tampa Bay Rays holding on for a 5-4 win in Boston last night against the Jays now trail Boston by seven games in the wild card race with 18 left to play.

Though they might've faced serious legal issues getting a guy under investigation across the border with any regularity...
Keep in mind if the Jays sign Bonds in time for spring training, Shannon Stewart (.240/.325/.303 for 200 PA) never signs, and is not replaced with Brad Wilkerson soon after (.216/.300/.322 for 232 PA).
If healthy, Bonds would probably have gotten most (say 325?) of those PAs by now. The rest could have been divided among stairs/mench.
Figure Bonds hits .260/.380/.440 over those 325 ABs...i'd expect that's a difference of about 3 wins over stewart and wilkerson. The Jays would be four games back. I think you could easily argue he'd hit better than that.
Well, in May, July and August they were a combined 49-33.
And I won't mention April and June if you won't.
