Grasshopper Bat Dog Ejected From Game

Master Yogi Berra, a bat and ball fetching dog for the team, was ejected after relieving himself on the field during the fourth inning of the Hoppers 9-6 loss to Asheville.

A spokesperson for the Grasshoppers says that Yogi was attempting his usual between inning promotion of fetching a ball shot to deep center field. While running back to homeplate, he stopped and relieved himself on the field. This prompted homeplate umpire Jason Hutchings to eject the dog.

Owner Donald Moore says Yogi was not feeling well today battling a stomach virus. “When you gotta go, you gotta go,” said Moore, the Grasshoppers’ Team President and General Manager,.

Yogi is believed to be the first dog ever ejected from a professional baseball game.

“Yogi’s had a tough start to his season, and I hope this doesn’t get him down. He clearly couldn’t control himself out there. He’s such a competitor and he wanted to do his duties as he’s been trained,” continued Moore. He left the ballpark in the 6th inning with the Team Veterinarian Jason Streck, of the After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic, and is listed as day-to-day.

At least Yogi Berra didn’t doo that.

I don't care how good a job the grounds crew did, if I'm the centerfielder, I'm thinking long and hard before I dive for a flyball the rest of the game.

It's hard to believe Yogi was sick, he looked to be in the best shape of his life this spring.

I have a funny feeling that it was the look Yogi gave the home-plate umpire while Yogi was relieving himself, in response to a controversial strike call made by the ump in the top of the 4th, that prompted the ejection. It was pretty clear that Yogi's action wasn't just about bladder releif.

No there isn't.

Anyway, "Grasshopper Bat Dog" is the worst idea for a superhero I've ever heard.

Matt Wieters once relieved himself on the field in the middle of a game. His excrement promptly entered the game and threw 3 innings of shut-out relief. After the game, Baseball America named it the No. 7 prospect in the Orioles' farm system.

Peeing is what dogs do. You take 'em for a walk and they pee every five feet. They pee to relieve their bladder, they pee to mark territory, they pee to say hello to future dogs they haven't yet sniffed, they pee to say hello to dogs they sniffed 3 days ago and sometimes they pee as an artistic statement on the transient and liquid nature of life in this world of 2 billion smells.

What is not in the article is that Yogi called the umpire a ########## during the argument.

It's a good thing they don't have a bat chimp or he would have bitten off the umpire's thumbs.

And I guess it's really lucky that Yogi didn't try to jack off on the umpire's leg. Umpires often have a false sense of pride about such things.

He's lucky the manager didn't bench him for dogging it.
