Chad Qualls was given a three-game suspension and fined today for throwing a ball into the stands at Angel Stadium in frustration Monday night. He was set to start serving the suspension tonight, but he has appealed and will be available to pitch.
The incident took place after the seventh inning of Monday’s loss to the Angels.
Qualls was suspended and fined, “for inappropriate actions at the conclusion of the bottom of the seventh inning,” according to the release sent with the announcement from former Astros player and general manager Bob Watson, Major League Baseball’s vice president of on-field operations.

I never saw a word of it mentioned, though thousands of people (including everyone in the Angels bullpen) must have seen it.
Would he have gotten suspended if he threw the ball into the stands as a celebration rather than in frustration?
