Indians deal ‘03 first-rounder Aubrey to O’s for player to be named

For Huff would be just too much…

The Cleveland Indians traded minor league first baseman Michael Aubrey to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named.

Aubrey was a first-round pick (No. 11 overall) in 2003 but was slowed by injuries during his time with Cleveland. He was batting .292 with five homers and 29 RBI in 57 games with Triple-A Columbus. The 27-year-old played in 15 games last season for the Indians, batting .200 with two homers.

The Indians also outrighted right-hander Greg Aquino to the Clippers. He was designated for assignment June 19 after going 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 10 relief appearances.

This looks like a good thread to hi-jack.

Spain has a baseball team?

That spoiler alert is wise. There is an equal probability that someone would feel the need to post the result in a Michael Aubrey post had Spain won.

What does this have to do with Matt Wieters?

Spain has a baseball team?

Actually yes, and once upon a time they were pretty good.

But still...we won!!!!

Clippers = 2010 Western Conference Champs?

Spain has a baseball team?
Yes, but they call it batheball, as in Barthelona and Tharagotha

If he married Aubrey Huff, they could both be known as Aubrey Aubrey.

How is that?

Michael Huff would simply change his name.

And both Aubrey and Aubrey could share first base for the O's.
Would the box score show Aubrey replacing Aubrey?

About as confusing as that dang A. LaRoche and A. LaRoche thing the Pirates have going, in their box scores, as in

"2B-A. LaRoche (9); A. Laroche (11)"

I loved this, from a couple weeks ago:

Bot 8th: Pittsburgh
- A. LaRoche singled to second, A. LaRoche scored

Imagine the confusion if Junior Felix, Felix Jose and Jose Canseco ever played together.

Nothing will ever beat the similar of the two Alex Gonzalezes who played the same position and were each other's most similar batter.

IIRC, there once was a time when Carlton Fisk pinch hit for Darryl Boston.

Imagine the confusion if Junior Felix, Felix Jose and Jose Canseco Jose Cruz Jr. ever played together.

In 2005, we Jays fans always got a kick out of a boxscore that finished like this:

Bush 7IP, 3ER
League 2IP, 0ER

Yeah, yeah, Spanish-American war, big whoop. Rosebud's a sled, too, in case you hadn't heard.

Back on topic for a second: I'm happy for Aubrey that he's been able to stick with it and make the majors, even as a bit player. Back problems are a real killer.

I assume Aubrey wasn't on the 40 man roster?

They took Carmine Giardina in the 22nd round this year; his brother has a cannon arm and will probally be drafted next year, and we know how those Bucs love brothers. Still perplexed why they never united the Gileses.
