I'm not even a fan of episodic television and I agree with those who say It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the funniest thing going right now. Charlie Kelly in particular (who is not shown in this clip) is one of the funniest actual characters in television of any era. Sunny picks up where Seinfeld left off, escalating the antisociality of a sitcom into genuinely trangressive areas (is there anyplace this show won't go?), while also stripping away its network conventionality. Just great, great stuff.

(N.B. This clip is merely 'ha-ha' level Sunny. Learn about the song "Nightman" and the later musical "The Nightman Cometh" if you want top-grade crazy from this show.)

Maybe it's a generational gap of some sort, but literally every kid I know thinks this is the funniest show on television. It's easily the most popular television program among the college set. It's the only show I regularly watch. (although Curb, is, of course, also very funny. Never been a fan of 30 Rock)

What always fascinates me about It's Always Sunny is that it actually does tackle issues, but through the lens of the moral nihilism of the alleged protagonists.

It's always Sunny is a very funny show but they are getting a bit bizarre nowadays where they are doing really really crazy things and then pretending like it never happened by the time the next show comes along.

I love it but I know people who in your camp. My close friend can't actually #### through an episode because it makes him squirm. He has a very difficult time with uncomfortable situational comedy, can't deal with the awkwardness.

I want to write a love letter to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I can't say enough good things about that show. It's not only the funniest thing I've seen in years but, as Dan said, it is topical not simply in terms of issues but in terms of mood. The nihilism of the characters shines a light upon the nihilism of society in a way that I find redeeming.

Madison is a beautiful city to live in. It is also a parody of leftwing prejudices. Have you been to the coop with the reserved parking spots for the "differently abled." I'm no fan of George Bush but when I lived there, there were impeach Bush stickers in windows, signs on lawns, etc. Kind of ridiculous really. And people ride their bikes in the winter. That's a mental disease if I've ever seen one. It's also where I learned that passive aggressiveness is a thing that is bred in the bone. Anyway, love that town.

I'm absolutely serious, and you are correct: the last corpse pictured is that of Kevin Youkilis. Apparently he's a big fan of the show.

I watched a couple of episodes during its first season, and I thought to myself, "So this is what they decided to do with all those leftover Seinfeld scripts."

It really has. I barely got through the first season, but it's improved a lot over time. It's not the greatest show by any means, but it can be pretty damned funny.

If there's no snow, (or if there is, yet the roads are dry) I ride. 12/365, no matter the temperature. Well, I mean, I doubt I would ride when the 25-below cold snap hits, but for the most part.

Meh, that's life. I'd rather stab myself in the eye than sit through an entire episode of "2 and a half men," but that's the most popular sitcom by a mile.

I have given It's Always Sunny only a glancing couple of views, but I haven't seen anything there that floats my boat. This clip doesn't do anything for me either. I don't know what it is, other than the obvious thing that I don't think the jokes are that good, but it might be that the actors are mugging it up a bit too much, as if the only thing separating it from a traditional sitcom is the single camera and lack of laugh track. I have a similar complaint about The Office, although I do enjoy that show.

Oh, man, Coupling was, for a brief period, absolutely drop-dead, laugh-'till-your-sides-hurt funny. The best thing about the U.S. version of the show was how quickly it was cancelled.

I liked the UK version of The Office but loved the US version, FWIW.

The U.S. version of The Office is a vastly superior product to the UK version. Just stay away from the first season.

Is anyone else watching Parks and Recreation? Much like The Office, the first season wasn't great but it really has improved quite a bit. The Hugo Chavez/Venezuela episode was outstanding.

I was watching the unreleased Christmas episode of It's Always Sunny and there's more baseball references - Mac gets upset when a toy score clerk hasn't heard of Mike Schmidt and then goes on a rant about Steve Bedrosian and Von Hayes.

Great double-episode (I'm definitely going to buy the digital download when it comes out next week). I could've done without seeing Danny DeVito naked.

I agree with Gaelan. It's funny in a goofball way, but I can't help but think it's popularity is a result of vicarious living through it's sheer anti-social sociopathy. Hell, that's why I like it.

Sunny is the best comedy on TV since Arrested Development.
