And just a note to Dayton Moore: you can give up the on-base percentage talk. Nobody's buying it anymore.
And now I see the last scene with the chick sitting on Bowden's lap as he talks about her statistics while looking closely at her cleavage. Funny or trashy? I don't know.
That's what makes it so awesome.
Q: "Which Sabermetrics do you like?"
Dayton Moore: "Runs Scored."
Yep, that's why I can by an upper deck ticket and sit in the 5th row any day but opening day.
Dayton Moore is really not at all up to speed with SaberWorld. It makes you wonder about the Braves, not just him.
Nats' fans, Reds' fans: note the prominent positioning of the Reds' pennant in his office. No guesses as to where his heart lies.
Dayton Moore: "Runs Scored."
Did he say this with Mayor Quimby's voice?
Dayton Moore upon meeting Bill James: Aren't you one of the Little Rascals?
Jon Daniels is 12 isn't he? Nice to see his Mom did the basement up real nice for him though -- it even has a ceiling fan.
The McLouth section could have been interesting if somebody had actually added some video to help folks assess if Goldstein and Cameron were talking out of their butt. And of course I'm disappointed that neither Goldstein nor Cameron raised Upton's Ks as a potential problem. His K-rate wasn't bad last year but, young or not, he's unlikely to have many more seasons where he hits 406 on-contact. His power looks solid (roughly the same ISO the last two years) and might increase as he ages, so there's little danger of him turning into a pumpkin. But I wouldn't be surprised if last year was about the best we'll see from Upton (I'm not saying the best nor am I predicting no improvement in the K-rate).
Of his B-R comps, Cabrera is definitely the most promising of the relevant ones. He K'd a ton at 20, cut it to about 1 per 4 (as Upton) at 21 and settled in around 1 per 5. If Upton can do that, he'll put up numbers similar to last year as his average. But of the B-R comps (not a good set), Andruw Jones looks like the most appropriate comp to me.
