Jim Bowden Updates List Of Washington Nationals’ Managerial Candidates

Bowdensity of Solutions.

Former DC GM Jim Bowden sent out a tweet yesterday listing the candidates for the Nationals’ job opening on the bench which read simply, “Nats MGR search includes: Mattingly,Duncan,Yost,Riggleman & BValen,” and now this afternoon, Bowden’s back with an updated list which includes a few new names:

“Up-Dated Nationals Managerial Candidates: Mattingly, Valentine, Mills, Melvin, Cora, Yost, Bowa.”

Don Mattingly, Bobby Valentine and Ned Yost were on yesterday’s list, “Mills” is, of course, Brad Mills, the Boston Red Sox’ Bench Coach, (and former Montreal Expos’ draft pick), Bob Melvin, the former D-Backs’ skipper, has ties to Rizzo, Joey Cora’s the White Sox’ Bench Coach and “Bowa’s”, Bowa, Larry Bowa, the man you might

How in the hell would the disgraced and subsequently fired Jim Bowden be privy to this kind of information? My sense is that after he was canned last spring, the Nats went on a much-needed de-Bowedenification campaign in the front office. Does he have a mole deep within Nats' HQ, or is he just speculating like the rest of us?

I assumed this was an Onion link. Ye gods.

He's got Elijah Dukes hiding in a potted plant outside Rizzo's office.

Anyone have a link to Dubya's Twitter? I'm looking for some inside info on Obama's plans for Afghanistan.

Dear lord, please choose Larry Bowa. I need more comedy in my life.

I'm sure somewhere in the Nats front office there's someone who still has Bowden on speed dial.

Lemme guess. Which of these is the re-tread of re-treads, with the maximum amount of tread wear up and down his back. There's your new-old manager. Unless the Astros get him first.

Joe Torre was a retread. Terry Francona was a retread.

Mills and Melvin seem to be the "overlap" between the Nats' and Astros' list.

For some reason, I'm more excited by the possibility of Don Mattingly being the Nationals manager than I was by the signing of Steven Strasburg. Child of the 80s I guess.

Bob Boone is still currently employed the Nats. Elijah Dukes' information, unfortunately, consists of pictures of firearms.

My thought exactly on reading the headline--"Wasn't Bowden fired months ago?"

"That's great, Elijah, but who are they gunning FOR?"
   14. The Curly W Theory Posted: October 14, 2009 at 03:18 PM (#3351817)
Is it possible that Bowden doesn't realize he's not running the Nats anymore?

"Yeah, Jim, why don't you just get your work done from your home office?"

I thought I might come here and see a classic Transaction Oracle picture, something with a scribbled list of names next to some doodles.

One of the partners with the Nationals and a VP/GM for Baseball Administration is Squire Galbreath. Galbreath was Bowden's college roommate and helped Bowden get his first job with MLB. Galbreath's father was an owner of the Pirates.

By the way, this list is extremely White.

Add to this that most of the staff was likely hired by Bowden, and it's not at all surprising he'd be up-to-date on what is happening.

They both took over teams than had won the Wild Card the previous season.

No, his given name is John W. Galbreath. He is always referred to as Squire Galbreath.
