“Phenomenal," said General Manager Jim Bowden, who watched Johnson’s batting practice session flanked by several of his top lieutenants, plus Manager Manny Acta. “This was a big day for us.”
“That was refreshing,” Acta said, “because the last image I had of him last [September], taking ground balls and swinging the bat was a totally different image than what we saw today.”
It will be interesting to see whether Johnson is really back up to speed or whether Bowden is ramping up the hype machine.

Now how long it takes to get his timing back is a different matter...
He is an excellent fielder and his OBP is always near .400.
He was becomming a great line-drive doubles hitter with decent power to right and center fields.
We can only hope he continues to recouperate and takes advantage of the shorter power alleys in the Nationals new ballpark this year.
In his time with the Yankees, although his fielding numbers were usually very good, he made some really crazy boneheaded mistakes. Has he improved upon this in the last few years, or were my eyes deceiving me at that time?
