Why did I stop reading after this statement?
He had to compare him to Mays. Otherwise his extremely hilarious reference to Willie Mays Hayes would not have made sense. And without that very witty comparison between the great Giants ballplayer and the fictional Indians player, the whole piece would have fallen apart. The logic of the argument demanded it.
Matt LaPorta's black and changes actors from movie to movie? This seems like a very poorly conceived comparison.
Well, he could have comped him to Willie Mays Aikens instead. :-)
(Might not be a bad comp actually. And I had no memory of the Angels connection.)
