That's not very nice. You're doing a good job, no need to be a jerk.
You have to agree with him though...
The only thing I can say is, ‘Happy anniversary.’’’
Williams doesn't need to be petty and condescending.
He's not talking about Cubs brass. He's talking about Cubs fans, bandwagoners and otherwise.
He's just stoking the fire that already burns pretty hot around these here parts. It's just fun is all. The Cubs-Sox series is about to begin.
The White Sox have had higher payrolls in 2006, 2007,and 2008.
What other GM would say this? That's awesome.

It did say earlier in his career. And, earlier in his career, the White Sox had a much lower payroll than they do now.

It's the annual tradition - the White Sox try to play up the importance of the series, while the Cubs try to play it down.
I find the series to be endlessly annoying.
I can't believe my season ticket holding friends refuse to avoid the games and profit from what's essentially a big, loud hassle with some baseball.
Actually, South Side fans think Armageddon is the World Series. You know, since they've all seen their team play in it.
What in truth gets us is that while for us it's NCS vs. UNC, for them it's Coppin St. vs. UNC. ACKNOWLEDGE US, OH PLEASE!!!!
But you live in the Bay Area, IIRC. You don't have to deal with certain types of Cubs fans. Or my Cubs-fan brother. 8-)
