Rev. Heidnik’s hole is empty...for now.
Brett Myers made his long-awaited return to the Phillies by pitching in a high-stress, pressure-filled eighth inning Saturday night. Then, Brad Lidge turned up the heat on a possible closer controversy.
Lidge, who seemingly had put his struggles behind him with six strong outings in his last seven games, blew his league-leading 10th save in the ninth inning by loading the bases and allowing a two-out, two-run single to Kazuo Matsui in the Houston Astros’ 5-4 victory over the Phillies at Minute Maid Park.
...Lidge has blown 10 of 38 save chances and has a 7.15 ERA.
Meanwhile, Myers waits in the wings.

I don't know how it could even be a controversy at this point, must less a "possible controversy".
Lidge sucks. Someone else needs to close. Lidge needs to pitch garbage time and see if he can fix himself. If not, he shouldn't even be on the postseason roster, at this point.
