It's certainly not an example of the media blowing an innocuous joke out of proportion on a slow news day! No sirree!
Absolutely I can. Jeff Nelson springs immediately to mind.
However, defending the White Sox players on this one is really kind of silly. They crossed a line without a doubt. But I think most of the shouting should be reserved for human-on-human violence, not human-on-doll.
"Outfielder Brian Anderson approached [Comcast SportsNet's Kerry] Sayers, whom he knows.
"'Did it offend you?' he asked of the doll thing.
"'I thought it was funny,' the reporter replied."
I seriously thought the headling here was Mariotti: Chicago's rude, crude embarassment. I didn't see the Ozzie part.
Well, what's she going to say? She has to work with these guys all year. Comcast/Chicago is partly owned by the White Sox. Sayers is not exactly an unbiased commentator.
That's kind of cynical, I think, and not really correct IMO. She could easily tell Brian Anderson that it was out of line if that's what she thought. There's no way she's punished for making that statement in this cultural climate, particularly as nobody would even care if she took that stance because it would be more or less expected.
Heck, even Joe Crede said it wasn't something he would've done, and these are his teammates he's talking about. KW didn't defend it. There's no company line she'd've had to take.
Man, Ozzie must have slept with Jay's dog, whilst kicking him - or something.
You sure are, Jay.
You can't own what you never had.
Yeah, it's a real shocker. The Trib should know better.
Better yet, kick the media out of the clubhouse so they can't see it, then let in the bloggers.
