Mercury News: Kawakami: Brian Sabean finds himself stuck

As he travels along the scenic Sabean vaccine pathogen.

So Sabean, the general manager, can’t say much. Sabean’s a fighter, a survivor and a baseball lifer, but he still has to bite his lip. It’s out of his control. Still.

“Right now, things are so hyper-sensitive, I think we just have to let the process work itself through,” Sabean said recently of further investigation into his and owner Peter Magowan’s handling of Bonds and Greg Anderson.

“Believe me, at the right time, I’ll have plenty to say. This isn’t the time for that.”

...But I wondered: With your name in the Mitchell report and mentioned during a congressional hearing, aren’t you worried that your reputation will never be repaired?

“I understand people want some kind of closure to this situation,” Sabean said. “But at the end of the day, I’m not concerned about my reputation. I think things will become very clear about that. I’m very sure of that.”

Sabean did sound sure. He also sounded like he wanted to say more, like he was dying to say more. But he couldn’t. Not yet.
