Mets Gee…Uhhh…Welcome to RaysGeek!

Welcome to the Damian Rolls Royce Ring of Hell!

Over the past three years, MetsGeek has provided readers with top-notch analysis and writing about the New York Mets. I regret to inform you that those days have passed. Writing about the team just became too much for our staff to take. The Mets’ play has been so disappointing in 2008, that we just couldn’t bring ourselves to write another word on this team. Something needed to change.

Eric called a meeting at the MetsGeek offices. We threw some ideas around to liven the site up again, but, in the end, the staff unanimously agreed to just drop the Mets gimmick. We’re tired of this team, and we felt it was time to attach ourselves to a new beacon of light and hope: the Tampa Bay Rays.

Why the Rays? As it turns out, we have a lot in common. We both needed to clean the slate with a new identity this season. Well, half a slate; the Rays only removed half their nickname, and, if you look at the banners above, you’ll notice we’ve chosen to do the same. Mr. Met’s smiling visage shall continue to shine down upon our daily content. After all, I’m not even sure if the Rays have a mascot, and Mr. Met remains the best, even when the team doesn’t.

So I’d like to welcome everyone to RaysGeek.com, home of the best Rays analysis on the internets. We pray that you, our readers, shall remain faithful to the site and not the team. Unlike the Mets, we’ll never let you down. Because if the Rays’ season takes a turn for the worse, you can bet that we’ll be ready to jump ship again.

And in the meantime: let’s go Rays!

Cheers,

Eric and Alex

Their hearts will be broken by the Yankees directly now.

The Rays are screwed.

Somewhere, Jim Wisinski is screaming.

What about me! I write rays preview year after year for this site... then this year when they start to get good someone unnamed person just swoops in and steals them.

Steve Haskins, back when there was a reason for a Dodgers fan to write such stuff, used to pen the irascible Fire Jim Tracy. One day, after a particularly egregious string of Tracy mismanagement, he gave over to impulse and turned his blog over as Hoo-Ray!. I miss him.

To demonstrate to Willie that I'm not a racist, I think Maddon should be fired too.

Hard to imagine the guys looking elsewhere when you've been delivering prose like this.

I’m not even sure if the Rays have a mascot,

The Rays have a mascot; his name is Raymond.

Wow. I had no idea the depths of the angst amongst the fan base. This is like post-Watergate Nixon pessimism.

If the Mets get swept in these next two games, I think Omar might be in the firing line. After that, it will be the Wilpons that will face the wrath. If the Wilpons think the fanbase is angry now, this may just be the beginning.

Jeeze, I'm attending the game tonight. Maybe I should break out the riot gear.

The scary part is, when the Wilpons get fired, you know who's on the chopping block? God.

So I’d like to welcome everyone to RaysGeek.com

I'm guessing that bandwagon.com is taken.

I believe that I speak for all Pirates fans when I say: Suck it up, you ####### pansies. You made the NLCS a year and a half ago. You have absolutely no idea what disappointment and bitterness are.

So far this year, at your nadir, you have a .469 winning percentage. The last time the Pirates ended a season with a winning percentage that high, it was still the Clinton administration.

I guess that's why she won PA.

"I guess that's why she won PA."

Obama's the candidate of winners. That's why the Steelers endorsed him.

THAT'S not true.

Alright, we'll take the Mets fans and the Chinks, but we don't want the Irish!

Time to trade Kazmir for a pickup full of old tires.

I can retro-fit those tires in 15 minutes.
