Mets Thug: RP Ambriorix Burgos

From: The Dominican News

The Major League ballplayer Ambriorix Burgos, who’s been charged with the murder of two women, is again involved in an incident, this time a scene right out of the Wild West when the also professional, Felix - Gatico- Martinez accused him of trying to kill him.

Martinez accused Brugos of trying to murder him after they argued over a dominos game in a sidewalk bar.

I still think he’s got a better chance of pitching to a 3.50 this year than Duaner does.

Mets fans are like... "Yeah, but I still like him better than Benitez."

He's still a Major Leaguer? We didn't release him?

Oh, my head.

Ex-Met. Technically, he was non-tendered.

On December 12, 2008, the New York Mets did not offer Burgos a new contract and he became a free agent.

Somewhere, Bizarro Posnanski is preparing the next installment of the Ambi Log.

Why didn't any of this potential for thuggery show up in his Zips translations last year, or his PECOTA or Marcel?

I think Dan's standard disclaimer is that Zips doesn't project jail time, only how the player would perform if not incarcerated.

Still, he's going to have do better than this if he wants to do anything more than setup for Ugueth Urbina.

See, if Burgos was an American, he could rat on people for steroid use and his murder charges would be reduced to misdemeanor assault so that the prosecutors could get the real criminals in jail.

ZiPS only projects jail time to the extent that jail time was effectively represented in previous years by stats.

Is this the same Felix Martinez who played for the Royals and Devil Rays?

You know, what's really frustrating about this is that after Bannister's breakout 2007 and Burgos' injury, I said that the Mets still might get the better of the deal, since Bannister would crash in a big way. Well, Brian did HIS part...

Seems like the Mets are finally cleaning up their act a little bit. Not only did they cut Burgos, but they're also trying to trade everybody's favorite rapist, Ramon Castro.

Good for them. Better late than never.

Posnanski never disappoints.
