Miklasz: La Russa was born to run — at least to run a baseball club

—Iceman: Should have had Richard Kuklinski throw me into a cave full of rats before I first saw Springsteen in ‘72. Just to save me from this endless bosstorture.

Bruce Springsteen is in town with the E Street Band for tonight’s concert at Scottrade, and I don’t know if The Boss plans to stop by Busch Stadium to say hello to Cardinals manager Tony La Russa. But we can be certain that La Russa will visit Springsteen before the show at Scottrade.

OK, just for fun, what are the Springsteen songs that best fit La Russa?

I’ve been attending Springsteen concerts since 1973. I’ve seen him and the band more than 100 times. And I can honestly say that Springsteen’s words and music have been an important influence and a touchstone I’ve turned to during various stages of my life. There’s no way to explain this, and there’s no way to properly thank Springsteen for the joy and inspiration he’s provided over the last four decades.

— Hungry Heart: doesn’t that perfectly sum up La Russa?
