MLB: Berra, Jeter named DHL All-Star FanFest spokesmen

Hall of Famer Yogi Berra and eight-time All-Star Derek Jeter have been named the official spokesmen for 2008 DHL All-Star FanFest, July 11-15 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, Major League Baseball and DHL announced today.

As spokesmen, Berra and Jeter will help generate awareness and excitement about DHL All-Star FanFest, an interactive baseball theme park and the largest baseball fan event in the world. DHL All-Star FanFest will make its first visit to New York City and will officially launch the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star Week.

..."DHL All-Star FanFest is a unique event that will bring excitement and enjoyment to baseball fans of all backgrounds,” said Jeter. “DHL All-Star FanFest is the largest baseball fan event in the world, and I can’t think of a better stage to hold this type of once-in-a-lifetime experience than New York City.”

“DHL All-Star FanFest will be great for the fans,” said Berra. “And I also agree with everything Jeter said.”

What is this...another Senate Anti-Trust and Monopoly Subcommittee Hearing?

They've already generated awareness in me. Generating excitement will take more than a press release.

Does this fanfest have a corporate sponsor? Just wondering.

I would say that this announcement will keep the DHL All-Star FanFest going as the highest rated DHL All-Star FanFest that has gone, and from the DHL All-Star FanFest angle. I am not here to talk about any other All-Star FanFests.

This will be the clutchiest Fan Fest ever. Count the rings!

Yogi Berra wholeheartedly endorses this event and/or product.

with a Red Sox manager it's possible that if Jeter doesn't make the fan vote he may not make the team.

just thinking for a bit, is there any other SS in the AL who could conceivably beat Jeter out? Renteria could be outperforming him at the AS break, but he's too low profile. Same with Orlando Cabrera. Guillen isn't an SS anymore. Tejada's in the NL. Who's left? Eckstein? Peralta? Seriously, there seems to be a dearth of high-profile SS's is the AL.

Bobby Crosby is having a decent start to the season but that really seems to be about it, all the good shortstops are now in the nl.

Ah, DHL ... one of my most loathed companies. If you're going to lose a parcel of mine, then at least have the decency not to make it a case of booze.
