With a night like last night, I may as well accept the fact that he'll be the Twins CFer for the next 5+ years.
I assure you I mean this in the most light hearted way possible, but what exactly did you want to lose in the process of trading for the best pitcher in baseball?
Agreed, he looks like all wired-up energy up there.
EDIT: he's probably a lot better with the glove than I give him credit for. Maybe "overrated offensively" is a better hedge.
If he's overrated like Suzuki, that would probably be fine with the Twins.
Whether he would take the leap I have no idea. I certainly hope he would though.
How is his defense right now? He seemed to misjudge every other flyball in Shea. His speed obviously more than covered most of those mistakes.
I would have done the trade, of course, just that I think very highly of Gomez. For instance, if we hadn't done the Milledge trade, I would have dealt Milledge and kept Gomez.
According to THT, "...he has a .973 Revised Zone Rating? The major league average for center fielders is .915."
Not much to dislike there.
