MLB: Lasorda to sing during seventh-inning stretch at Wrigley Field

That Suzyn Waldman - Roseanne Barr tribute to The Shaggs ballpark tour...is just going to have to wait their turn!

Hall of Fame Manager and Special Advisor to the Chairman Tommy Lasorda will sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the seventh-inning stretch at Wrigley Field. Lasorda will make his sixth appearance at Wrigley Field tomorrow singing baseball’s anthem, as his previous performances came in 1999, 2002, ‘03, ‘05, and ‘06.

“Singing ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ during the seventh-inning stretch is an institution in baseball,” said Lasorda. “I am honored to be asked, and look forward to leading the fans in the song.”

"Sing"? That's what they call it?

Tommy Lasorda is dumber than ten Roseanne Barrs.

What'll Dave Kingman's opinion of Lasorda's performance be, I wonder?

I wouldn't let him within five miles of Kerry Wood's right arm.

Lasorda's shelf life ended decades ago.

No big deal -- the year Harry Kalas, a Naperville native, won the Ford Frick award, he sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" when the Phillies visited the North Side.

Almost but not entirely facetious - ANY chance Bartman ever gets this gig?

I guess it would have to come after a (lol) World Series-winning season.

Would be a nice bit of closure if he got applause, though.

Not even close. This was my best post ever.

Actually, your best post ever was when you said Jon Saraceno looks like Blackbeard.

Any chance he'll sing "Glad to be Gay"?

I don't think there is any chance that Bartman would even accept an invitation. He has never even granted an interview nor cashed in on his "fame". He was just a guy in the wrong place at the wrong time and seems genuinely sorry that he was even a part of that story. I still think that the Sun Times was grossly irresponsible for publishing his name and the names of his neighbors which allowed people to track down where the guy lived and worked.

I don't believe that sort of thing happens here.

And, of course, in 1968 Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June. Just sayin'
