Barnald points out that..."even non-pitchers are taking them now.”
Matt West, the Rangers’ second-round pick from the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, has been suspended for 50 games effective immediately for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The announcement was made on Thursday morning by the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball.
“Very disappointing,” Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. “It just goes to show you that you can never know everything on these guys. We try to do our homework, but the bottom line is Matt was tested positive and Major League Baseball suspended him. We’re going to try and work with him to get him through this.”
