MLB.com: Sheets exits early with injury

Too early to tell is this is an “uh-oh” moment, or just another of the number of starts Sheets has left early this year due to various aches and pains.

Brewers right-hander Ben Sheets exited Wednesday’s game against the Cubs after two innings and 24 pitches with tightness in his right forearm.

Something appeared wrong with Sheets as he warmed up in the bottom of the second inning. After his allotment of warmup pitches, he stepped behind the mound, squatted for a moment and then threw twice over to third baseman Craig Counsell.

His first pitch to Aramis Ramirez was lined for a solo home run, but Sheets worked through the rest of the inning without further damage.

MIL J-S blog: Sheets' elbow pain has lingered, not structural
The Brewers finally won a game Wednesday night, toppling the Chicago Cubs, 6-2, at Wrigley Field but might have lost the services of right-hander Ben Sheets for the remainder of the season.

The team originally called the injury right forearm tightness, but when Sheets came out for his post-game interview, he shed light on the real problem.

Sheets departed after the second inning, but he revealed that he has an ailing elbow that has bothered him for some time, to the point of receiving an injection a couple of weeks ago.

"My elbow has been bothering me for awhile now," said Sheets, who began feeling discomfort again while facing Derrek Lee in the first inning. "We've been fighting it off for awhile."
...
Sheets' comments were news to us since the team has kept the media in the dark about his condition. When asked if he though he would pitch again this season, Sheets said, "It's been so up and down that I would think it's very possible. There's been really good days. There's been really bad days. There's been days that it's hard to move and it's stiff, then the next day it's free."

I think Sheets' agent just died.

This would be a huge blow to the Brewers' playoff chances.
And would they offer him arbitration if he's hurt?

Eric Gagne threw a 1-2-3 inning (and when Sheets departed after 2 innings, DiFelice/Coffey/Villanueva/Stetter/Gagne/Mota threw six scoreless), so the universe had to balance itself somehow.

That was an expensive bout of forearm tightness, which is now reported as elbow soreness.

Sheets better watch it or he'll get fired for this

More cracks like that, and karma will reward you with Ned Yost being announced as the next Royals manager.

He's an ex-Braves guy, Dayton Moore is an ex-Braves guy...

Damn. Well, it was going to happen sometime this year.
