MLB: Clemens present at Astros’ Elite Camp

with 110% legal pharmaceutical grade preparation, as usual!

Roger Clemens’ son, Koby, doubted his dad would show up at the Astros’ Elite Camp this week, but on Wednesday, the Rocket emerged from the Astros’ dugout, ready to throw batting practice.

“I’m doing everything I love to do,” said Clemens, who has participated in the mini-camp as a coach for three straight years. “I’m not going anywhere. I love to do these things, and the Astros, and the other teams I’ve worked with, have always been very supportive—and if I can share some insight with the young kids at this level while they’re trying to reach their goals, reach their dreams, it’s all the better.”

...Clemens laughingly brushed off a question of whether he’ll pitch in ‘08. “I don’t know anything about that. I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that question,” he said, adding that he was looking forward to getting back on the mound—as a batting practice pitcher.

“I’m going to get out here and throw a little BP and hopefully sweat a little bit,” he said. “I’ll be ready to throw. I’ll dig down and get some will out there. It’s a little hard to do because whether there’s five kids or 20, you want to give each of them equal time. I pride myself on that.”

It must be lonely for the Rocket all alone in that Astros Elite Camp.

If he doesn't have any idea about whether he'd play in 2008, who does? Just say you're retired you damn drama queen. How tightly did the Hendricks brohers program you?

Just say you're retired you damn drama queen.

He's coming back. He'll be pitching for the Mets.

HOUSTON -- Drayton McLane announced Thursday that he had gone over the head of general manager Ed Wade and signed Roger Clemens to a 7 year, $120 million contract. "When you've got a guy like Roger in the organization, you just feel a lot more secure with whatever your other plans are, and I think that's become obvious when you look at the ups and downs that we've had in the Astros family," McClane said while cutting the ribbon outside the solid-gold house that Clemens received as a perk of the contract.

In another surprise move, one hour later Wade wrested control of the organization and traded Clemens to Baltimore for Danys Baez, Chad Bradford, and the rights to go find Ryan Kohlmeier wherever he is, as part of the Orioles' quest to rebuild. "Well, I guess I can't complain that I forgot to get a no-trade clause," a shocked Clemens mused.

This was the most recent of several deals involving the Orioles and Astros, following on the heels of the Miguel Tejada swap in December, and Wednesday's trade in which catcher Humberto Quintero went to Baltimore in exchange for catcher Guillermo Quiroz. "Let's see how many people can figure out which of those guys is which," chuckled Wade.

Damn...

That was funny Crispix.

The only thing sillier than Clemens' "oooh, I just can't decide" hemidemisemiretirement shtick is people getting enraged by it.

It's like when the reporters thought there might be a Pulitzer Prize in getting Rickey Henderson to say the word.

Astros sources that asked not to be identified are now reporting that Clemens was actually only there to drop off a package for Miguel Tejada.
