Awarded since 1973!! (no, it wasn't the Edgar then) An award so obscure that b-r doesn't list it.
When is the league going to get around retiring Ron Blomberg's number? What's the holdup?
As soon as he comes off the DL...again...and again...
No, it won't be a close call. If he's lucky, he'll start off somewhere around where Raines did - in the 20% range.
The guy is remembered as a career DH, who still had health issues, and who didn't hit any major milestones. His entire candidacy is based around his excellent offensive rate stats, which are partially balanced by both the era in which he played, and the (relative) shortness of his career. He's not going to get minor league credit, and he's not going to get a big bump from his OBP.
EDIT: Of course, it should be recognized that this guy, answering questions from Seattle fans, is not going to be stupid enough to rip on Edgar's chances, even if he does think that Edgar either isn't deserving or isn't going to make it.
